Barnesville Police Increase Property Code Enforcement

The Barnesville Police Department is taking a stronger role in enforcing the village’s property maintenance code, an issue that officials say remains a top concern for residents.
The increased involvement by the department is one of several informative articles in the recently released village fall newsletter that may be read here.
By centralizing enforcement, police hope to improve both the safety and appearance of the community. Since January, the department has already issued several abatement notices for violations as part of a broader effort to clean up problem areas.
Property owners found in violation receive a 30-day notice to make corrections. If issues aren’t resolved, owners could face summons to Mayor’s Court along with daily fines of $100 until the violations are addressed.
Residents are encouraged to assist by reporting property maintenance concerns to the Barnesville Police Department at 740-425-1976.
