Third Story Bradfield Building Project

The Ohio Hills Health Center, current owner/caretaker of Barnesville’s signature historic Bradfield Building, announced this past week that renovation of the third story will get underway shortly.

From 1929 until the G.C. Murphy Store closed in 1992 the third story of that portion of the structure was used for a stock room for the discount department store.

The First National Bank corner portion of the building was sparsely used over the past 120 years.  That space was last used in the first few years of the 20th century for temporary classrooms while the ca.1905 Barnesville High School was under construction a block away at the corner of N. Broadway and W. Church streets.

“Recently some artifacts from the G.C. Murphy department store, which use to be located in this building, were discovered. These items will be preserved and displayed on the third floor after the renovations are completed in early 2026, “ a post by the clinic noted.

The Bradfield building was built in 1891 and currently houses OHHC Barnesville and the OHHC administration offices.
