Belmont County Sheriff’s Log

Western Belmont County excerpts from the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office Call Logs covering various dates from September 4 through September 10 are reported below. This past week, there were ten attempts to serve warrants in western Belmont County, some successful and others not.

September 4, 2025

7:31 pm — McDonald’s, Belmont. The caller stated that a woman was acting strange and would like a deputy to check on her. She was driving a silver car.

7:53 pm — East Interstate 70 Entrance Ramp, Belmont. A deputy performed a traffic stop on the reported suspicious person at McDonald’s. The woman stated that she was going to the truck stop. The deputy advised her that the Ohio Highway Patrol would tell her to leave.

9:20 pm — National Road, Morristown. Two juvenile girls had run away from the address, wanting to go to Walmart and get phones. The deputy patrolled the area near Pike 40 with no contact with the girls. The emergency call was reversed.

10:29 pm — Main St, Jacobsburg. The caller stated that there were 3 males and 1 female on the neighbor’s porch, and no one lives there. At 10:44 pm, another caller stated that it was her children jogging up SR 147. The caller said that the initial caller was irate when she confronted the children about being on the porch. The caller also stated that the woman was in a red car and driving up and down the road past the caller’s house. The caller just wanted the incident to be on record.

September 5, 2025

8:31 am — Goshen Township. The called advised that there was a man making threats to harm himself. A deputy responded and the man voluntarily went to Reynolds Memorial Hospital.

10:37 am — Union Township. The caller reported a strange van with two men coming onto her property and started recording.

6:06 pm — Warren Township. The caller wanted a person removed from the house. The person left before the deputy arrived.

9:09 pm — Bond Dr, Morristown. The caller was trying to get items back from his girlfriend, and she was refusing to give them to him. The caller was advised that this was a civil matter, and Belmont County Sheriff units are unable to assist without a court order.

9:57 pm — Bond Dr, Morristown. The caller stated that a person had assaulted her approximately two hours ago. Information was taken for a report.

September 6, 2025

9:09 am — Union Township. The caller said that her Ex was under her camper, taking things. The suspect was gone on the deputies’ arrival. The caller did not want to file charges.

12:55 pm — Union Township. The caller stated that his neighbor wanted him to call 911 because her in-laws would not leave. Deputies responded, and the in-laws left without incident.

1:11 pm — Pilot, Morristown. A person had returned to the travel plaza and requested that the police be called. Two deputies responded. One deputy spoke with the person’s mother, who was paying for a room at the Sleep Inn and was en route to Ohio to pick up the person. The other deputy transported the person to the Sleep Inn.

1:11 pm — Motel, Morristown. There was a female in the lobby acting strangely. She requested that the staff rent a room under one of their names. The female left before the deputy’s arrival. She was located at Love’s. The deputy went to St. Clairsville Police Department to get a voucher, which was given to the woman. The deputy transported the woman to Days Inn West, and she was dropped off and given a room.

4:32 pm — National Road, Belmont. The caller was having problems with her child. The caller had contacted her child’s parole officer, who advised her to take him to Sargus. A deputy responded and transported the juvenile to Sargus.

5:43 pm — Union Township. The caller reported hearing explosions or tannerite blowing up near the address. The investigating deputy patrolled the area and heard or saw nothing.

September 7, 2025

12:50 am — High St, Flushing. A deputy conducted a business check and found everything secure.

1:03 am — National Road, Belmont. A deputy conducted a business check and found everything secure.

1:27 am — Love’s, Morristown. A truck driver requested assistance in backing out of a dead end. The deputy blocked the traffic so the driver could get out.

10:30 am — Somerset Township. The caller reported that there was a white truck on the property, and no one knew who it belonged to. The responding deputy was able to determine the identities of the people on the property as well as the ownership of the vehicle.

12:51 pm — Warren Township. The caller reported that his girlfriend was making threats to harm herself. It was unknown if there were any weapons. The deputy responded. The reporting person was in the driveway. Vehicles were in the driveway. No lights were on in the home, and the deputy made no contact with her. The deputy and dispatch made several attempts to contact the caller back, but were unsuccessful.

8:37 pm — National Road, Morristown. There was a 911 hang-up call from a landline, and then no answer on the callback. The deputy made contact with the staff and the juvenile who called. The juvenile stated that she was messing with the phone, and it dialed out. All was well.

September 8, 2025

1:29 am — Morristown. A deputy was on patrol.

5:00 pm — Interstate 70 eastbound rest area, Union Township. Four deputies at a traffic stop found a “positive indication” on the driver’s side. A man and a woman were detained and transported to jail. The car was secured. The Belmont Animal Shelter came to take the dog from the car to the shelter.

5:18 pm — Warren Township. The caller reported that a man was going door-to-door about electric service. The deputies investigated and found that the man had the proper credentials.

September 9, 2025

3:16 am — Main St, Holloway. A deputy was on patrol.

7:33 am — Union Township. The caller wanted to advise law enforcement that a gray Toyota 4-Runner came to his residence yesterday at 7:53 pm. The vehicle had Texas plates and a busted back window. One of the men talked to the caller’s wife about solar panels while another sat in the car. A neighbor had mentioned that the vehicle and men had been on another property with a gated entrance.

12:21 pm — Main St, Barnesville. A deputy made a traffic stop. A warning was issued. The vehicle was going to the ER.

3:37 pm — Union Township. Deputies responded to the location to investigate a report of two suspicious males going door-to-door. It was the same 4-Runner as before, sitting in a driveway down the street.

September 10, 2025

9:19 am — Morristown. A deputy served one paper in a civil matter.

9:55 am — Warren Township. A deputy served two papers in a civil matter.

11:23 am — Piedmont Lake Rd, Barnesville. A deputy was investigating illegal dumping at this location. The deputy found a large site, including mail.

3:57 pm — Union Township. A man came into the sheriff’s office to speak to a deputy. He said that someone was forging checks in his name and stealing money. As of September 10, $2,890 had been stolen. The man wanted it on record for the bank.

4:26 pm — Smith Township. A deputy arrived at the location to create a crash report for a two-car motor vehicle collision in a parking lot.

4:38 pm — Goshen Township. A woman came into the sheriff’s office to speak to a deputy. She stated that her neighbor is repeatedly banging on her door, yelling, and overall harassing her. This is an ongoing issue, with the latest incident occurring on September 9 at 10:30 pm. The woman wanted it on record.

10:19 pm — Somerton Highway, Barnesville. A deputy assisted another unit with a traffic stop. The situation was cleared before arrival.
