OUE Partners with Captina Conservancy

The local branch college salutes the nonprofit Captina Conservancy for the organization’s work with Ohio University’s Rural Teacher Corps. Through the partnership, OHIO Eastern teacher candidates have been able to:
- Take part in hands-on hikes and outdoor learning at Dysart Woods
- Connect classroom lessons with real-world community resources
- Explore local history through Dr. Jacqueline Yahn’s archives research
Captina’s collaboration with Dr. Mary Lenczewski on projects related to the Conservancy’s mission of protecting the Captina Creek watershed, supports efforts to preserve the creek’s habitat while partnering with the Columbus Zoo on a breeding program to restore hellbender populations across the state.
“We’re proud to partner with organizations like Captina Conservancy that strengthen learning opportunities for our students while making a lasting impact on our region and beyond, a college release said.
