Goaliners Complete Stadium Pledge

The Goaliners, a group of alumni and friends of supporting the Barnesville Football Stadium, recently provided the district with a $40,000 check completing the organization’s $100,000 pledge for the Stadium lighting and turf  project.

The District recognized the group’s dedication to the Barnesville football program before the Homecoming Game and during Halftime ceremonies on October 10.

The announcement reads:

“Tonight, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Barnesville Goaliners for their incredible service, commitment, and cooperation in helping develop our stadium into the showpiece it is today.

“With today’s $40,000 contribution, the Goaliners have officially completed their $100,000 pledge toward the turf and lighting projects.

“Our community is truly second to none!

“On behalf of the Barnesville Exempted Village School District, along with our Football, Band, and Cheerleading squads, we say thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to our students and community.”

The Goaliners, was formed in 2011 to support the football program and improvements to Barnesville Shamrock Stadium. In the intervening years, with donations and volunteer labor, the group has address field conditions including drainage, provided parking lot improvements, constructed a new home team field house and improved the visitor’s locker room and finally played a major role in the recent installation of an artificial turf field surface and a lighting project as well as other improvements.

As an organization member of the Barnesville Community Foundation, tax deductible donations were handled by the community organization.

The group plans to disband at the end of the current calendar year. In preparation for shuttering the operation, the group published a limited edition illustrated history of the group titled “Barnesville Goaliner Legacy”. A copy of the book is available for review at Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library.
