Shamrocks Picked for District 12 Volleyball All-Star Game

Four Shamrock Volleyball players will be recognized at the Division 5 District 12 Volleyball All-Star Match on Sunday, November 23, at Buckeye Trail High School. The match starts at 2 pm, and Aubrey Johnson and Aiva Leasure will be representing Barnesville.

Volleyball Coach Kimberly Ogilbee said, “I am very excited for these girls and happy for Aubrey and Aiva to get another chance to play together in this All-Star game.” Coach Ogilbee continued, “They led our team together and will represent Shamrock volleyball well.”

Aubrey was the libero this season. Aubrey was voted team captain two years in a row. Aubrey received her 3rd Year Award, Most Digs, and 1st Team. She was also named 1st Team OVAC and the Times Leader Athlete of the Week on October 9.

Coach Ogilbee stated, “Aubrey had tremendous ability to read the opponent’s attackers and hustled so much to make defensive plays.”

“Aubrey is a great leader with a tremendous work ethic both on the court and in the classroom,” shared High School Principal Ron Clark.

Aiva Leasure

Aiva played outside hitter this season. Aiva earned the following awards: her 2nd Year Award, Most Kills (155), Most Aces (35), and Second Team.

Aiva commented, “My favorite thing about playing volleyball was the energy we had as a team and playing my senior season with my best friend, Aubrey.”

“Aiva was very receptive to coaching and used a lot of strategy to earn our team points. She is a smart volleyball player, who we easily could rely on offensively,” said Coach Ogilbee.

“Aiva’s work ethic is something special, making her a great role model for younger students,” stated Principal Clark.

Avery Bliss

Avery was the middle blocker/hitter. She earned her 2nd Year Award and Honorable Mention.

Avery expressed, “I love playing club volleyball with Londyn Gibson, who is my setter. The sport is fun to play when you are with your friends.”

Principal Clark shared, “Avery is a very talented athlete. I am excited to see what she accomplishes over the next two years.”

Londyn Gibson

Londyn was the setter for Barnesville and played the right side. She is also a defensive specialist. Londyn was awarded her 2nd Year Award, Most Assists (440), and Honorable Mention.

Londyn Gibson shared, “My favorite thing about volleyball is being with my friends.”

“Londyn’s athletic skills are impressive, and her leadership skills are equally impressive,” said Principal Clark.

Avery Bliss and Londyn Gibson are dedicated to the sport, having played club season for Club Gold South Volleyball for many years. “Their dedication to the sport is noticeable and they are both becoming smarter and more aggressive on our court,” stated Coach Ogilbee. She contiued, “We are looking forward to their return to our roster and will expect more from them next season.”
