Enterprise Album

Several days after the snowflakes of the Big Thanksgiving Snow in November 1950 ended, these Chestnut Level farmers gathered along the just cleared neighborhood road. They were, left to right, Chester Secrest, Jesse L. Masters, Clarence Kemp, John Anderson and Don Masters.

Don Masters’s storm experience is detailed on page 38 of the book Blizzard of the Century by Roger Pickenpaugh.

This photo was provided to Barnesville Area News by Frances Masters Wilkins, a resident of the Walton Home. Her father was Jesse while Don was her brother.

Other Belmont County accounts of the storm are covered on pages 30-46 of the book published in 2000. Currently out of print, one used copy is currently available on Amazon listed at over $50.
