Belmont County Sheriff’s Report

Sheriff Log excerpts are created from information gleaned from individual “call record reports” of the Belmont County Sheriff’s Department. This is a partial week report from December 18 through December 22.  

December 18

7:30 p.m.  – Route 800, Warren Twp., OSHP reports an oil and gas truck is blocking traffic on SR 800 from I-70 EB. An officer assisted with traffic control.  

December 19

12:35 a.m.  – Barnesville-Bethesda Road, Barnesville, provide assistance to another unit

6:39 a.m.  –  Reco Road, Belmont, respond to an accident with property damage to a grass area and mail box.

9:54 a.m.  – Markatan Street, Flushing, follow up on investigative complaint

7:18 p.m. – East Main Street, Flushing Twp., follow up to assistant Jefferson County regarding a bike.

December 20

2:36 a.m.  – Main Street, Hendrysburg. Caller reports threats of harassment as another man was threatening him. Deputies were dispatched. Caller was discovered “highly intoxicated” and could not provide a statement due to intoxicated state. Party was advised to come to the sheriff’s office when sober to fill out a statement.

4:12 p.m.  – Barnesville-Bethesda Road, Welfare check on a man possibly driving a red Cadillac from Monroe County. Negative contact achieved.

10:17 p.m.  –  Market Street, Belmont. Welfare check on a child at address. Negative contact achieved.  

December 21

5:19 a.m.  – Belmont-Bethesda Road. Welfare check on a woman no one has heard from in a day. Woman is in poor health.

11:02 p.m.  – I-70, MP 208, call for a disabled vehicle with mechanical issues.  

December 22

3:46 p.m. – Grace Street, Bethesda. Man with cardiac arrest.  

4:07 pm. – Willow Street, Bethesda, welfare check. Kids are playing on a frozen pond. Owner has told them not to be on the ice.  

8:37 p.m. – West Captina Highway, Barnesville. Female caller reports a large amount of money missing from purse. Female found her money and is “highly intoxicated.”  

8:54 p.m.  – Virginia Street, Bethesda. Complaint about noise coming from upstairs apartment. Kids were playing, officer told, and they have gone to bed.
