Bethesda American Legion Honors Long Serving Member

Longtime Bethesda resident, Frank Brock, 99, now living at Emerald Point in Barnesville, was honored by his fellow members of the Epworth Post 90, American Legion, this past week for his unwavering support and membership to the organization and nation for the past 78 years. Brock became a member of the Bethesda Post in 1947. The Post awarded Brock a “Service Award.”

Brock, a 1943 graduate of Barnesville High School, enlisted in the Navy following graduation. He served on a wooden “sub chaser” in the Pacific for the next two years.

During those years, he kept a diary that he and his cousin, Duane Lucas, published in book form a few years ago titled “Sub Chaser: The Smallest Warship of World War II.” A copy of the book is at the Bethesda Public Library and the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library.
