Health Coverage Among New Barnesville Chamber Member Benefits
The Barnesville Chamber of Commerce recently joined the Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance (SOCA) opening the door for members to purchase employee health insurance as well as a variety of other services in 2026.
Individual businesses must be active paid members of the Barnesville Chamber in order to participate.
It has been several decades since Barnesville Chamber members have been afforded this benefit. Back in the 1990s, members were able to secure similar coverage through the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.
SOCA, established in 1993, offers a self-funded medical plan aimed at small employers with between two and 50 employees, and in some cases sole proprietors through Anthem Healthcare that provides claims administration and stop loss protection.
Also available is an Anthem Chamber Saver Plan geared to businesses with two to 99 employees providing up to 1.4% savings on any Anthem group health insurance plan through premium tax credit savings.
“We are very proud of all of the benefits that a chamber membership brings to our local businesses. We work constantly to find products and services that help our local businesses,” said John Rataiczak, chamber president.
“We are now proud to introduce an entirely new array of benefits to our membership through our affiliation with the Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance including offering our smaller businesses Small Group Medical Insurance Plans.”
Jill Hissom, chamber director, said. “We are very excited to offer this program to our members. This has been a big concern of members, and I have received a lot of positive feedback regarding the SOCA program.”
Hissom also noted, “Will Roberts (of SOCA) will be at our Jan. 14 Chamber Lunch hosted by Steele Insurance providing a short presentation and answering questions.”

In addition to health coverage, SOCA, and now Barnesville Chamber, offers:
Natural & Renewable Energy Solutions through Community Energy Advisors
Merchant Service Processing with the world’s fourth largest credit card processor, Elevon
SOCA PEP, a pooled employer plan managed by Ascensus, this contribution program works like a 401(k) program
PartnerShip, two shipping savings benefits to fit any shipping needs through FedEx Advantage and freight savings with competitive carriers
Payroll Processing through Payroll Partners, a fully integrated, cloud-based payroll, talent, time and scheduling service

SOCA, established in 1993, is a small employer health care alliance authorized by the Ohio Revised Code. It negotiates benefits for Chambers of Commerce so that they, in turn, offer much-needed benefits to their members’ businesses owners and employees.
More than 130 Ohio Chambers of Commerce are members of the alliance representing tens of thousands of businesses.
