Small Business Training Available for Downtown Business Owners

Heritage Ohio is excited to announce a free, ten-part webinar series designed specifically for small business owners, delivered by Merchant’s Edge. The series kicks off January 14 and will continue monthly on the second Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. Each live virtual webinar will feature 35–40 minutes of practical, real-world instruction on a focused business topic, followed by 15–20 minutes of live Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions, learn from each other and apply strategies directly to their own businesses. Topics will range from goal setting and online visibility to storefront experience, customer loyalty, and profit awareness—providing clear, actionable guidance business owners can use right away.

$20,000 Small Business Grants Available

Main Street America and American Express® are teaming up to help small businesses grow, innovate, and support their local communities. Starting today, eligible small business owners across the U.S. can apply for $20,000 grants through the new Amex Shop Small Grants Program. Applications are now open and will close on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11:59 PM CT.

T-Mobile Hometown Grant Now Accepting Applications through March 31

The new application period for the T-Mobile Hometown Grant program is now open through Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CT. For communities with populations of 50,000 or less, the program provides grants of up to $50,000 to help build stronger, more prosperous small towns and rural communities. From enhancing public tech infrastructure to creating new recreational trails and restoring historic landmarks, these grants are transforming communities like yours.

Foundation for Appalachian Ohio’s 2026 Scholarship Season is Open

Applications are available for more than 50 scholarship funds supporting the educational and career goals of students across the 32-county region. FAO supports more than 320 scholarship funds established through gifts from residents and friends of Appalachian Ohio who recognize the role education plays in ensuring our region’s people and communities can flourish.

ODOD Announces Residential Economic Development District (REDD) Program

The Residential Economic Development District (REDD) Program awards grants to support the creation of workforce housing near major economic development projects across the state. Approximately $10 million in funds is available for the first award period. Funds will be awarded based on eligibility and an applied scoring metric. The Ohio Department of Development reserves the right to consider total geographic distribution of resources across Ohio when making awards. The application opens December 16, 2026 and closes January 16, 2026.

ODOT Announces Transportation Improvement Districts Funding Application

In Ohio, Transportation Improvement Districts (TIDs) promote intergovernmental and public-private cooperation of transportation resources and investments. The ODOT’s Office of Transportation and Economic Development – Jobs & Commerce plans to award $9 million to TID projects for State Fiscal Year 2027, commencing July 1, 2026. These funds are only available to registered TIDs. Registration for new TIDs is open year around and the form is available on the Jobs & Commerce website. The project application will be available on the Jobs & Commerce website from March 2, 2026 until midnight on March 20, 2026. Please note that TID registrations and project application(s) can be submitted during the same funding cycle. Funding awards are anticipated to be announced prior to July 1, 2026.
