DeFelice Launches ‘Putting Belmont County First’ Campaign

Dominic DeFelice, Shadyside, a lifelong resident of Belmont County who is CEO of DeFelice Brothers Pizza, recently launched his campaign for Belmont County Commissioner.

Seeking to replace retiring commissioner Jerry Echemann, DeFelice filed as a Republican candidate. The contested Republican race will be decided in the primary election of Tuesday, May 5.

The firm he and his late brother, T.J., founded in Shadyside in 1982 came after DeFelice was laid off from a Belmont County factory.

Over the last 44 years, Dom has grown the company to include ten franchises in both Ohio and West Virginia. Through the business, Dom has not only created thousands of jobs in the Ohio Valley, he has also helped dozens of entrepreneurs start businesses of their own.

In addition to a hometown shop, the firm is found in Martins Ferry, Newark, St. Clairsville and Wintersville in Ohio and Wheeling, Weirton, Follansbee, Moundsville and Bethlehem in West Viriginia.

The candidate “has spent the better part of his adult life giving back to the community through various roles. He has served on the Shadyside School Board, overseeing various improvement projects, as well as handling personnel issues. Dom has also served on the Belmont County Health Board for the last three years. During that time, he has assisted the board in balancing the budget, developing a cohesive work force and securing a new facility through a joint effort with the current county commissioners,” the candidate’s announcement states.

DeFelice has also spent 43 years giving back to the local American Heart Association chapter, a cause of which he is deeply passionate. He has served on the Heart Ball Committee for several years; he also spearheads an annual fundraiser through his company to raise funds for the organization.

“These diverse endeavors have allowed Dom to gain invaluable experience in a variety of areas, including finance, marketing, community growth and infrastructure projects. His background has led him to build relationships across a varied group of individuals, ranging from bankers and business owners to county and city officials and state representatives”, the announcement states.

Dominic DeFelice “prides himself on his ability to listen, work with others amicably and stay motivated to get the job done. His goal in running for county commissioner is continuing to put Belmont County and its people first.”

The candidate launched his campaign at a fundraiser staged at the Sons of Italy Lodge in Bellaire on January 21. A mid-county event will take place from 1-4 p.m. March 1 at the Chapz Bar & Grill, 42478 National Road, Belmont. More information on the candidate and his campaign may be found online at www.votefordom.net
