Bellaire Coach Arrested on Felony Charges Involving a Minor
BELLAIRE — The Belmont County Sheriffs arrested Bellaire Local School District track coach and teacher, Shawn Mark Valloric, Thursday on ten counts of felony 2, pandering obscenity involving a minor.
The Belmont County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit and the Bellaire Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence located on Rosser Avenue in Bellaire after receiving a tip from the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding the distribution and possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.
Detectives arrested 49-year-old Valloric, resident of Bellaire, after the search. He has been booked into the Belmont County Jail.
“Our criminal investigators did a fantastic job,” Zusack said. “They received the information from the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children yesterday, and within less than eight hours, they investigated, gathered enough evidence and took Mr. Valloric into custody.”
The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the incident.
The Bellaire Local School District remains fully cooperative with the investigation.
At this time, the Bellaire Local School District has not been provided with any information indicating the arrest was the result of any misconduct involving students or other staff, according to superintendent Derrick McAfee.
Additionally, the District took immediate steps to suspend the employee pending the outcome of the charges against him. McAfee stated the safety of the students, staff and community remains the district’s highest priority.
“We continue to work diligently to provide a safe environment where our students can learn and grow. We would also like to thank the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office for their continued efforts in keeping our community safe …,” he said. “We appreciate the community’s understanding as the investigation proceeds.”
Sheriff James Zusack urges the public to report any suspicious encounters involving Valloric to the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives Steve Stan and Jordan Blumling can be contacted at 740-695-7933 ext. 122 or 740-695-7933 ext. 148.
