Francis Raymond “Butch” Lucas Jr

Francis Raymond “Butch” Lucas Jr., 79, of Temperanceville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at WVU Reynolds Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 5, 1946 in Barnesville, Ohio to the late Francis and Mary S. (Starr) Lucas.

Butch was a 1966 graduate of Barnesville High School, a proud Vietnam veteran, he served his country with courage, strength, and honor. But beyond his service to our nation, he was a retired heavy equipment operator, primarily working for R&F Coal until its closing. He was a member of the NRA, Batesville American Legion, and the Barnesville V.F.W. Butch enjoyed working outside, fishing, and shopping on Amazon. The role he treasured most in life was being a husband, father and grandfather. Butch loved his family fiercely. He was the kind of man who would do anything for the people he loved. His strength, loyalty, and quiet way of showing he cared will never be forgotten. Whether it was through his guidance, his protection, or simply being there when someone needed him, his family always knew they could count on him. He carried the pride of a veteran and the heart of a man devoted to those closest to him. The lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the memories he leaves behind will live on through all of us. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort knowing that his legacy of love, sacrifice, and dedication will never fade. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. We thank the Lord for our time with him. Rest easy, Dad. Your watch is over now. Thank you for everything. We love you always.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his grandson, Cody Lucas; brothers, Danny Lucas and Jerry Lucas; and sister, Mary Jane Lucas.
