Over 500 Years of Service to Barnesville Hospital

RN Betty Martin recently joined an exclusive group of individuals who each devoted more than 50 years of service to the local 86-year-old medical facility.

Those recognized are from the administration, medical care and volunteer service areas. Each person honored has their portrait featured in the hall leading from the hospital entrance to the cafeteria.

The honorees are:

Top Row

Bill Chaney – The local attorney faithfully served on the Board of Trustees for more than 50 years.

John Sawvel – He served the community hospital for five decades in Administration and Finance. His family’s connection goes back to the hospital’s founding.

Carol Hunter, LPN – She was not only a member of the Nursing Department but she was LPN of the Year in 1992. She also served as state president of the LPN Association of Ohio during the years 1983-85 and 1999-2001.

Betty Martin, RN – Beginning her career as an LPN, she serves the Cardiopulmonary Department and the Nursing Department.

Linda Phillips – Her half century career centered in the Materials Management Department.

Susan Campbell, RN – She worked in the hospital Nursing Department for more than 50 years.

Frances Lucas, LPN – She marked 55 years of service to the Nursing Department.

Third Row

Barb McMahon, RN – Her 50-year career was spent in the Nursing Department.

Jo Ann Barlyak, RN – Her career was centered on Infection Control and Employee Health. Since retiring she volunteers at the hospital.

Martha Thompson – The hospital’s longest serving volunteer logged thousands of hours of service to the community.
