Wilda Jean Thompson
Wilda Jean Thompson, age 92, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026. She was born on September 20, 1933, in Somerton, Ohio, to the late George Weber and Lina Campbell.
Jean graduated from Barnesville High School, in the class of 1951, and two years later married the love of her life, Thomas Lee Thompson on February 21, 1953. She owned The Plaza Restaurant 1971-1975 and spent many years working at Riesbeck’s Food Markets, as well as several years on the school boards for Barnesville School District and Joint Vocational School in St Clairsville. Thomas and Jean celebrated 73rd wedding anniversary on February 21, 2026.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George Weber, Lina Campbell, and Step Father, Jim Campbell, as well as her sisters, Myra Lee Chambers and Evelyn Sampson.
Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Lee Thompson of Columbus, OH, her children, Dennis (Becky) Thompson of Barnesville, OH, Sherry Giesey of Commercial Point, OH, Brenda Castle of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Darren (Deb) Thompson of Hilliard, OH and Angie (Don) Black of Galloway, OH, Grandchildren, Shawn (Adelina) Thompson, Mark (Lori) Thompson, J.R. (Jessie) Giesey, Deidre (Jesse) McClure, Denton (Esther) Thompson, Caitlin (Charles) Stewart, Jordin Metz, Great-Grandchildren, Blaine and Hogan Thompson, Abbi (Jacob) Chadwick, Jacob (Rachel) Thompson and Gavin Thompson, Alannah (Turk) McFarland and Aliyah Giesey, Miriam and Vivian McClure, Walter and Mabel Thompson, Bentley Ball and Ariella Stewart, as well as several nieces and nephews. Her family would like to give special thank you to exceptional caregiver Brooklyn Greenlee.
Jean’s family invites you to a visitation and funeral service on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio, 43026. The visitation will begin at 3:00PM and end at 5:00PM for the funeral service to follow immediately after at 5:00PM.
