Area Fire Departments Receive Small Communities Fire Department Grants Draft
In addition to Barnesville, three other area fire departments are receiving state grants as part of a $7.997 million grant program that will benefit 190 departments in 49 Ohio counties.
Bethesda VFD is receiving $47,745.80 that the group will use to modify a brush truck purchased with a grant in 2022.
” While this unit is a brush truck, we are equipping it with rescue equipment and basic firefighting equipment. Our intent is to use it as a multi-purpose vehicle,” said Dustin Roe, assistant fire chief.
The department will also purchase “a new intake valve for our engine.”
“Somerton VFD’s grant award of $23,500 will cover new hoses for fire trucks, a thermal imaging camera, IPads for use in EMS billing and emergency runs and office equipment including computers and printers, ” said Jody Wilcox, department spokesperson.
Quaker City volunteers will use their grant of $50,0000 to purchase all new battery-operated tools for use by the department.
