BHS Varsity Girls Basketball Reflects on Season
Barnesville’s Varsity Girls Basketball Team finished the 2025-26 season with an 11-13 record, being eliminated in the District semifinals. “The girls developed themselves into a contending basketball team as the season progressed,” stated Head Coach Ty Leach. “Positive attitudes, great work ethics and determination would be my overall assessment for 2025-26.”
Senior Aiva Leasure led the team in points, assists and steals. Leasure was named District 12 Basketball Coaches Association 1st Team All District and Honorable Mention All-Ohio Division 5. “Basketball has taught me throughout the years how to work with others to achieve a goal we all have in common,” shared Leasure.
Defense was a key to the girls’ season. Coach Leach said, “I was pleased with our team’s grittiness and hustle. We stayed in a lot of games with our defense, which carried us most of the season.” In fact, Senior Lydia Fuchs expressed, “I was so excited to see how our team came together to achieve big wins, especially being Sectional Champs and battling to an overtime victory on Senior Night against Marietta.”
Finally, Coach Leach said, “We will lose four great seniors who built this program in a positive direction.”
