Shamrock Softball Team Update
The Lady Shamrocks lost to the Fort Frye Cadets in walk off game at Beverly Saturday afternoon, 5-4, and dominated neighboring Union Local, 14-1, Monday night at Memorial Park.

The Shamrocks fell to Fort Frye 5-4 on Saturday in a walk off run in the final play of the game. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the seventh when Madeline Morganstern singled, scoring the winning run.
The ‘Rocks lost despite outhitting the Cadets eight to five. Aubrey Johnson led Barnesville, collecting two hits.
Fort Frye got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning after an error scored two runs and Jaden Cox grounded out, scoring another run.
Barnesville tied the game in fifth at 4-4- on a single by Roselyne Anderson.
Ella Betts started the game for Barnesville allowing five hits and five runs (two earned) over six and one-third innings. She also struck out 10 and walked one.
Christy Willis was the starting pitcher for the Cadets allowing eight hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings while striking out three and allowing three walks.
Anderson, Betts, Johnson, and Reagan Welch each drove in one run for the Shamrocks.
Maddie Hinton, Ella Dowler, Morganstern, Lexie Handshumacher and Faith Treadway each collected a hit for Fort Frye with Hinton, Cox, and Morganstern driving in one run each.

Shamrock starter Peyton Loudin was dominant as she rang up 10 strikeouts in the Shamrocks’ 14-1 victory over Union Local Monday. She allowed just three hits and one run in five innings at the mound while walking none.
Ella Betts collected four hits in five at bats in the win. Betts hit a home run to center field in the third inning, singled in the second and again in the fourth and fifth innings.
The ‘Rocks got on the board in the top of the first after Union Local committed an error, and Mariah Schaffer was struck by a pitch, scoring one run.
In the second inning, Barnesville scored five runs on four hits .Emma Swan doubled, scoring two runs, Loudin singled, scoring two runs, and Roselyne Anderson singled, scoring one run.
That lead was further extended the top of the third with home runs by Betts and Sophie Carpenter.
Evie Blakley, pitcher for the Jets, allowed nine hits and 11 runs (seven earned) over two and one-third innings.
The Shamrocks collected 13 hits in the game. Loudin, Swan, and Carpenter each collected multiple hits while the team racked up seven walks and two stolen bases.
Edyn McGary, Lily Blakley, and Martin recorded one hit each for Union Local while Blakley, the Jets’ catcher, led with one run batted in going 1-for-2 on the day.
Two more games are on tap this week. A home game against Wheeling Central on Tuesday while a rescheduled game with Union Local from Friday’s rained out game will be played in Barnesville Thursday night under the lights with a start time of 7 p.m.
