Lines Down

Telephone and internet connections in the north end of Barnesville were severed around Noon Thursday. The driver of a southbound vehicle failed to make the turn just south of the North Chestnut Street and Bond Avenue intersection. The accident heavily damaged the vehicle, severed the utility pole and disrupted service.

Traffic was “knotted up” for some time in the southbound lane while northbound traffic was able to avoid a back up using an alley off of Chestnut Street and driving through the parking lot at the Barnesville Library Annex.

The single occupant of the vehicle was not injured. Barnesville Police handled traffic at the time of the accident.

Southbound traffic came to a stop until utility work crews removed the downed line and sheared power pole. ©Barnesville Area News Company Photo
