Joshua Keith Goddard
Joshua Keith Goddard, 38, of St. Clairsville, Ohio formerly Alledonia, Ohio passed peacefully with family at his side after a valiant battle against glioblastoma brain cancer on Sunday, April 5th, 2026 at Liza’s Place, Wheeling, West Virginia.
Born March 4, 1988 to Loretta Perkins Goddard and Dennis (Missy) Goddard. He was Valedictorian of Beallsville High School Class of 2006 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ohio University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Josh had a fifteen year career in the field; he was an incredibly brilliant software engineer.
Josh was the kindest, most intelligent man. He wanted nothing more in life than to become a father, and his family was so graciously blessed with Clark and Jocelynne. He really shined in his role of fatherhood. He enjoyed reading, playing video games, watching movies with his buddies, golfing, bowling, hunting and fishing trips, family game nights, and live music.
Even in his final days, Josh kept his sense of humor, always keeping the nurses and aides at Liza’s Place on their toes. An ultimate family man, he was incredibly devoted to the members of his family. Being an uncle was his greatest achievement until he became a father. Without question, he stepped up to care for those he loved, and caring for his sister-in-law, Blythe, was no exception.
Josh was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, “Store” Grandma Dorothy and Pap Jim Goddard, maternal grandparents, “Farm” Grandma Shirley and Pap Junior Perkins; infant nephew, Dylan Bable; uncle, Mike Goddard; and cousin, Cara Baker.
In addition to his parents, Josh is survived by his wife of seven years, Carly (Givens) Goddard; two children, Clark and Jocelynne; two sisters, Shawn (Jimmy) Bable and Alicia (Matt) DeVore; nieces and nephews, Hailey and Jameson Bable, Quintin, Khloe, and Heath DeVore; two step-brothers, Matt Friede and Kyle (Brittany) Friede, also their sons Gavin, Keigan, Beckett and Eli; in-laws, Bruce and Cathy Givens; sister-in-law, Blythe Givens, also numerous extended family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Public Consulting Group and Waterfront Hall for their continued support over the past year; WVU Wheeling Hospital Cancer Center staff, OSU James Cancer Center staff, Interim Health, Caring Connections, Valley Hospice, and Liza’s Place.
Per Josh’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers and keepsakes, memorial contributions may be made to The Glioblastoma Research Organization, 2045 Biscayne Blvd #189, Miami, Florida 33137 or Liza’s Place, 308 Mount St. Joseph Road, Wheeling, West Virginia 26003.
