Rally Key to Barnesville Win

ST. JOE – Barnesville rallied to defeat Bellaire 5-4 on Monday at the Big Reds’ Middle School field at St. Joe after trailing by as many as four runs during the game.

The game was tied at four in the top of the seventh following an Emma Swan single down the right field line. An Abygail Ady single to left field, scoring one, clinched the win.

Bellaire led early. In the bottom of the first inning Jaela Phillips tripled, scoring one run, Elisa Gillespie singled, scoring one run, and Emilee Menendez tripled, scoring two runs.

Peyton Loudin earned the win for Barnesville surrendering five hits and four runs, striking out nine and walking two.

Emilee Menendez, Bellaire’s pitcher, surrendered six hits and five runs, striking out four and walking two.

Becklee Oliver led Barnesville with two runs batted in. Anderson, Loudin, Swan, Oliver, Mariah Schaffer, and Ady collected one hit each for the Shamrocks.  

Menendez led Bellaire with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Phillips led Bellaire with two hits in three at bats.

The remainder of the week will be an active one for the Lady Shamrocks with games against Shenandoah, a rematch with Bellaire, a doubleheader as St. Clairsville visits Barnesville on Thursday. The week will end Friday against the Bobcats at Cambridge.
