Barnesville School Board Actions

The Barnesville School Board took the following actions at the November 21 meeting:

  • Approved a winter Indoor Track Program was approved for the current school year as was volunteer coaches pending completion of all paperwork: Dylan Rogers, Brian Grear and Ryan Grear.
  • Chris Ford was approved as a volunteer wrestling coach  
  • One-year supplemental contracts were approved pending completion of all paperwork for Ryan Grear, Head Girls’ Track Coach, Melissa Dodd as Assistant Coach for Girls’ Track and Corey Powell as Key Club Advisor.
  • Jenny Roe, Sandra Sheppard and Tiffany Beck were hired, pending completion of all paper work aa Classified Substitute “aides, cooks, and secretaries”.
  • Approved the reappointment of Linda Sells to a seven-year term as Trustee of the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library Board of Trustees. Sells’ new term will expire December 31, 2031.    
  • Two monthly purchase orders for the district’s food service, The Nutrition Group, were approved covering the months of October and November in the amount of $131,436.40
  • Six account transfers totaling $443,861 as requested by Treasurer Adam Quirk were approved
  • The board also accepted and approved a Five-Year Forecast as prepared by the treasurer. Once a “Public Friendly” version of the report is released, we will share it with Barnesville Area News readers.
  • A Pledge Donation of $500 for the stadium turf/lighting project was received and approved from Micah and Stephanie Fuchs.

During the meeting, the Board retired for almost 1.5 hours for an Executive Session to discuss employment and “preparing for, conducting or reviewing negotiations with public employees concerning their compensation or other terms or conditions of their employment”.

Next week, we’ll share details of the administrative reports shared with board members at the meeting.

A special meeting of the Building and Grounds Committee to discuss among other things window replacement at the elementary building will take place Tuesday, December 10 at 7:00 am in the Central Office.  

The December Board meeting will take place Tuesday, December 17 at 5:30 in the Middle School Cafetorium. This is a change from the regular meeting date of the third Thursday of the month.
