Barnesville Kiwanis Club

They shared information about the institution’s upcoming 140th Anniversary Open House slated for the company’s headquarters in Bellaire. They also provided details on the institution’s Scams and Fraud class offered through senior citizen centers and the School Financial Literacy Program offered to high school students in Belmont, Jefferson and Ohio counties. schools.
Continuing the tradition of donating a children’s book to Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library in honor of each program presenter, Lucas and McKim selected “If You’re Happy and You Know It…Clap Your Paws” .
In business news, the club donated money to a local nonprofit group to help purchase school clothes for students in need.
The club also purchased $25 Barnesville Gold Gift Certificates for the High School Key Club members who represented the Kiwanis in the second Inflatables Relay Race at “Fun in the Ville” on August 7. The club claimed the crown again this year.
Barnesville Rotary Club

Judy Bruno, President and CEO of WVU Medicine/Barnesville and WVU Medicine/Harrison Community hospitals, was the program speaker at the August 5 Barnesville Rotary Luncheon Meeting.
Bruno provided information on her career focused on rural healthcare that began as a nurse’s aide.
She said Barnesville Hospital wants to be the best advocate for its patients and lead with innovative ways to provide quality acute care for people locally.
Bruno also introduced Patrick Huber, director of operations for the two hospitals, who shared his views of strategic objectives and future plans. The five-year employee of WVU, has many years of experience in the healthcare industry.
Both speakers are enthusiastic about the challenges and opportunities that are possible by aiming to serve the community with quality care.
Rotary member Lindsay Dowdle, marketing and communications specialist at the hospital, introduced Bruno and Huber.
In club news, President Mary Sidwell reminded members of the upcoming dedication of a Peace Pole on August 26. More information on the dedication is currently posted on Barnesville Area News.

Recent support for local and national causes totaling $5,600 were made by the Barnesville VFW Post. Donations were made to the Somerton VFD, Buckeye Trail Volleyball program, Global War on Terrorism Commission, Barnesville Kiwanis Club Coats for Kids, Save a Warrior, To Help a Veteran and the Barnesville Junior High Golf program.
