Barnesville Shamrock Sports This Week

Varsity Football
Barnesville – 56, Buckeye Local – 0
The Shamrocks rolled up 487 yards of total offense to improve to a perfect 4-0 start to the season at Shamrock stadium Friday night.
Junior QB Cole Francis hit on 7-of-8 passing attempts for 166 yards with a pair of touchdown tosses, junior Phoenix Graham hauled in 3 receptions for 67 yards with a touchdown. Sophomore Trey Toliver led the Barnesville ground game with 124 yards rushing on just 7 carries with 3 touchdowns.
Exchange student Luis Garcia hit 8 of 8 attempts for points after touchdowns earning him Barnesville Dairy Queen Player of the Game Honors.
Last week, Garcia kicked 3 for 3.
Barnesville’s first score came after just 28 seconds ticked off the clock.
The Shamrocks led 42-0 at the half kicking in the mercy rule “running clock” for the third and fourth frames.
The win was the 40th consecutive regular season victory for the Shamrocks., just behind Sistersville that won 42 straight and Steubenville at 68. Three more wins will move Barnesville into second place.

September 8
The Shamrocks went 4-1 at Belmont Hills Country Club with wins over Union local, Fort Frye, Caldwell, & Monroe Central, losing only to St. Clairsville. Barnesville team score – 158
Individual scores – H. Treadway – 40, D. Gallagher – 41, B. Gallagher – 36, K. Little – 42, B. Eberhart – 51, G. Spence – 41.
September 9
Barnesville came up short against Marietta at the Marietta Country Club, bringing the second record to 36-5.
September 10
Barnesville’s Junior Varsity golfers finished 1st out of 12 teams at the JV golf tournament at Switzerland County Club with a team score of 175.
September 12

The Shamrocks finished second at the Ohio Valley Golf League Championship at Moundsville Country Club with a team score of 312. St. Clairsville came in first at 308. Ten teams competed in the contest.
Brady Gallagher was selected as OVGL Player of the Year. He came in second shooting a 70.
He was also named to the Boys All-Tournament Team.
Hayden Treadway, who shot 75, was also named to the Boys All-Tournament Team.
Kennedy Little claimed second place in the girls’ division with a score of 86. She
was named to the Girls All-Tournament Team.
Cross County

September 10
The Shamrock Boys and Girls teams placed 4th at the Belmont County Championships at the Union Local 3.1-mile course around the Morristown campus.
