“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”
Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu
The time has arrived for the moth to transform into a butterfly. Following the third anniversary of the end of our beloved Barnesville Enterprise, the weekly Facebook and email posts featuring local news will migrate over to this website. The process will obviously take a little time as we “find our sea legs.” Thank you, in advance, for your patience.
Two important steps in that process have taken place this fall. First, we formed a volunteer-driven organization – Barnesville Area News Company – and this past week we were officially recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a certified 501c3 nonprofit.
Special kudos are extended to Bill Knox, CPA, and his talented staff for their expert pro bono work for shepherding the application through the IRS!
While we will continue to be an effort driven primarily by volunteer efforts, we’re pleased to share with you our first-year goals and aspirations.
2024-2025 Program and Financial Goal
$25,000 will allow us to hire two part-time contract employees to cover public meetings, write features and cover sports. It will also cover associated administrative costs, website hosting fees, etc.
