Multiple Hopefuls Add Interest in Area Election Contests
While many local contests for villages, townships and school boards are uncontested in the upcoming Nov. 4 General Election, others are hotly contested with multiple candidates seeking a limited number of open seats. In those subdivisions, voter interest is naturally higher.
Village Council elections in Barnesville, Bethesda, Fairview and Quaker City are contested. There will be winners and losers. In Barnesville and Bethesda several “write in” candidates are vying for seats.
Many township trustee elections in the greater Barnesville area will be decided on Nov. 4. Two trustees will be elected in each township. More than two candidates are vying for the positions in Flushing, Kirkwood, Smith, Somerset and Wayne townships in Belmont County, Oxford Township in Guernsey County, Sunbury Township in Monroe County and Beaver Township in Noble County.
Seats on the Noble Local and Switzerland of Ohio school districts are also contested. One candidate in the Switzerland District is a write-in hopeful.
