WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital, a WVU Medicine facility, recently donated an infant warmer to our partners at WVU Medicine Barnesville Hospital.
Just three days after the donation this past week, a mother and newborn arrived in the Barnesville Emergency Department via EMS. The mother had unexpectedly delivered her baby at home, not knowing she was pregnant, and the baby arrived with a low body temperature. Thanks to their team’s swift response and the newly donated infant warmer, the Barnesville Hospital staff were able to safely warm and stabilize the baby before transferring them to the Wheeling Hospital NICU for further care.

Furthermore, the baby was transported from Barnesville to Wheeling in a new NXT GEN Isolette transport incubator via WVU Medicine’s Health Team Critical Care Transport unit, ensuring the highest quality of continuous care throughout this delicate situation.
