At the most recent Barnesville village council meeting, members approved a permit to demolish the two-story frame residence at 775 E. Main Street. The house likely dates to the early 20th century.
In three town directories in our possession – 1929, 1949 and 1975 – the structure was the home of the Mellott family. Jessie K. Mellott was listed as a salesman in ’29 and a mechanic 20 years later. In 1975, his widow, Gertrude Mellott was living in the house.
