Route 26 Profiled
The Times of USA recently profiled State Route 26 that begins at Marrietta and ends at Bethesda.
“State Route 26 (SR 26) is a 67-mile (108 km) north–south highway located in southeastern Ohio. The route begins at SR 7 in Marietta and travels north through rural areas, passing through the towns of Graysville and Woodsfield. SR 26 ends at SR 148 between Jerusalem and Bethesda, providing a key connection between these communities in eastern Ohio.
“The route is notable for running parallel to the Little Muskingum River, offering scenic views along its course. It also passes through the heart of the Wayne National Forest’s Marietta Unit, providing access to natural areas and outdoor recreational opportunities.
“Where SR 26 terminates in Wayne Township, the road continues north as Belmont County Road 26, which connects to Barkcamp State Park and the historic National Road. The highway serves as an important regional route, facilitating travel through the Appalachian foothills of Ohio and connecting various small towns and natural attractions in the area”.
