OVAC Museum Features Shamrocks
Last week, the OVAC Sports Museum at Wheeling WesBanco Arena featured Barnesville High School. The Shamrocks joined the OVAC in 1953.
The Shamrocks have won over 50 OVAC Championships in its time as a member with the most successful programs being Wrestling and Girls Track, as both have double-digit conference trophies.
Barnesville has three OHSAA State Championships with Boys Track & Field in 1978, Wrestling in 1984, and Girls Cross Country in 1997. Barnesville’s Football team may have had one of the longest winning streaks in conference history up until recently, where the Shamrocks won over 40 consecutive regular season games.
This case along with dozens of others from current and previous OVAC schools are found at the OVAC Sports Museum and Hall of Fame inside the WesBanco Arena.
