Fatal Crash Takes Places Near Barnesville Interchange
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — A 60-year-old Zanesville man died Wednesday after his vehicle veered off Interstate 70 and crashed in Belmont County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol, St. Clairsville Post is currently investigating a single vehicle crash that took place at approximately 12:48 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 70 near mile marker 202 in Kirkwood Township, Belmont County, according to a press release from the OSHP.
Thomas M. Littick, 60, was traveling eastbound in a 2012 KIA Optima on I-70 when it went off the right side of the roadway and struck an embarkment. The KIA then stopped in a grassy area south of interstate, the OSHP said.
Additionally, emergency medical services transported Littick from the scene to West Virginia University Medicine Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV, where he was later pronounced deceased. Littick had been wearing his safety belt at the time of the initial incident.
Barnesville Fire/EMS, Bethesda EMS, Fairview Volunteer Fire Department, Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department and A-1 Braden’s Towing assisted at the scene, according to OSHP.
Additional details of the crash remain under investigation.
