James Edward McGee

James Edward McGee, 81, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at his home. Jim was born on November 9, 1943 in Barnesville, Ohio to the late John “Edward” and Mary Catherine (McCort) McGee.
Jim was a graduate of Barnesville High School. He was a Navy Veteran and retired from AEP where he worked as a lineman and foreman. He was a former member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He was a hard worker, who enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, doing yard work, and reading westerns. He was always working in the garage when he was able or helping Scott with the business. Jim enjoyed going to McDonalds and having coffee with his buddies. Most of all he loved being with his family.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Hawthorne and Loretta “Annie” Lavanchey; brother-in-law, Jerry Wittenbrook; sister-in-law, Violet McGee; and his loving companion, Chico.
Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie McGee; son, Scott McGee; daughters, Mandy McGee, Charity McGee, and Ashley (Zach) Hamilton; grandchildren, Layne (Austin Singleton) McGee; brothers, John “Ike” (Ginny)McGee, Bob McGee, Dave (Carol) McGee, and Bruce (Cindy) McGee; sisters, Laura Wittenbrook and Mary Catherine (Butch) Ramsey; special friends, Kari McGee, Beth Secrest, and Kristal Hunkler, who helped throughout this tough time; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and grandpups.
Honoring Jim’s wishes, no services will be held. Jim’s care has been entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to Hospice of Guernsey and Pastor Rodney West for their compassion and visits to Jim.
