Jets Wrestlers Claim Place at Invitational

Eighteen local high school wrestling teams participated in the Bridgeport High School Second Annual Bobby Douglas Invitational last Saturday. 

The contest is named after the two-time Olympian Bridgeport High School grad.

Union Local came in second with a score of 174.2 to tournament champion East Liverpool’s 202.5 team score. Nearby St. Clairsville came in third at 154.5

Individual UL Wrestlers placing in the tournmant were:  Max Dubiel, 3rd at 106; Gavin Bolock, 3rd at 126; Jaxson Lewis, 4th at 138; Gunnar Gossett, 1st at 144; Calvin Robbins, 3rd at 150; Daominic Crum, 4th at 157;

Ryan Howard, 5th at 165;  Kolten Clark, 3rd at 190; and Brady Hunt, 3rd at 215.

During the Bobby Douglas Invitational 126 lb Jets grappler Gavin Bolock notched his 100th win.

Jets Wrestlers Take Third Place at OVAC Tournament

At the OVAC Wrestling Tournament this weekend, Union Local claimed the third spot in OVAC 3A competition. Freshman Gamble Gossett claimed the Overall Title in the 120-pound class. Gavin Bolock came in 7th in the 126-pound class; Gunnar Gossett, 4th place at 144 pounds; and Brody Perzanowski, 5th place at 175 pounds.

During the 25th Anniversary Recognition Ceremony, Union Local Alumni Mike Davis was honored for his title run in 2000.

The Union Local Lady Jets came up short against Indian Creek Saturday night at the ECO Center in St. Clairsville 50-46 in the Buckeye 8 Athletic League Championship game. Union Local’s record is now 13-3. They return to action Monday Night against John Marshall.

Union Local Boys Bowlers came in Second at the Buckeye 8 Bowling Tournament that took place during the day Wednesday.  All-Buckeye 8 honorees were 2nd Mason Porter, 3rd   Logan Porter and 5th, Nate Barbe.
