In reporting this action, The Times-Leader’s Kim North wrote “the trophy has been around since 2007 when Union Local equipment manager, the late Tug Robson, and Mark Cook, the athletic director at Barnesville back then came up with the idea the two schools play for a trophy in every sport.”

Results from the Buckeye 8 Swim Championships For Combined scoring, Barnesville came in 4th out of eight teams. Women scored 6th, Men came in 3rd.

Liv McCrate broke another personal record breaking her own 200IM record with a time of 2:23.12 at the championships at Brooke High School, Wellsburg.

Barnesville Freshman girls wrestling phenom Laydn Hines was named one of two The Times Leader “Athletes of the Week” on Jan. 8. In their credentials section, they note “Ladyn captured the 120-pound weight class at the Shadyside Last Man Standing wrestling tournament. She won five matches, three by a pin, one by a technical fall, and one by decision”
