Western Belmont County excerpts from January 8 through January 14 were created from the information provided by the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office call logs.

January 8, 2026

2:00 pm — Ciruddy St, Holloway. A caller reported that his tree stand, which was stolen a year ago from someone else’s property, has shown up in his neighbor’s yard. Information was taken and forwarded to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

2:28 pm — Ramsey Ridge Rd, Jacobsburg. A school principal in Columbus requested a welfare check on children who had not returned to school after Christmas break. The deputies did not make contact with anyone when they went to the address.

8:04 pm — Near intersection of South 26th and Patterson Roads, Bethesda. A caller reported that a male tried to run her off the road, kicked her car, and waved a firearm before pulling into a residence. The deputies patrolled the area but did not come into contact with the suspect’s truck. The suspect was identified through the license plate number. The male had an active permit to carry a concealed weapon.

January 9, 2026

2:32 am — Belmont Rd, Bethesda. A caller stated that there was possibly a male beating on the door of her apartment and yelling. The caller called back to say that she did not see anyone outside and thought the noise was actually her screen. A deputy secured the screen door and patrolled the area.

9:08 am — Stukey Rd, Alledonia. There was an unresponsive person. CPR was being performed while the deputy was enroute. Unfortunately, the person was dead on arrival.

11:35 pm — Barnesville-Bethesda Rd, Barnesville. A deputy assisted the Barnesville Police Department.

January 10, 2026

4:05 pm — National Rd, Hendrysburg. A welfare check was requested. The deputy made no contact with the individual.

January 12, 2026

1:37 pm — Rt 1 Plainfield Rd, Belmont. A deputy put down an injured deer.

8:32 pm — Barnesville. A deputy followed up with a call by obtaining a statement at the address.

11:48 pm — Bailey Rd, Barnesville. Two people wearing all black were knocking on the caller’s door before taking off on foot. The caller believed that they were sitting in a car by the pond on his property. The responding officers found narcotics and paraphernalia inside the vehicle. One female and one male were taken to jail.

January 13, 2026

10:21 am — Ramsey Ridge Rd, Jacobsburg. The caller wanted a welfare check on three juveniles who went to their parent’s house over Christmas and have not returned. The responding deputy made no contact at the address. The caller was advised that it appeared nobody had been there recently.

10:26 am — Buttermilk Rd, Belmont. A caller reported that a male was outside her residence and would not leave until he spoke to her child. The caller told the male that he was not speaking to them and to leave. The male left before the deputy’s arrival. The deputy explained how to get a protection order.

11:27 am — Briar Terrace, Flushing Township. A deputy went to the location to investigate reported UFOs in the area. The caller told the deputy that they consumed garden gummies to help see the UFOs.

3:55 pm — Pilot, Belmont. A deputy went to the location to investigate a complaint. No contact was made.

7:00 pm — Ashton St, Holloway. A deputy attended the council meeting at the Holloway City Building.

8:12 pm — Barnesville. The deputy went to serve a temporary protection order (TPO) to a male. The male refused to leave the residence as ordered. The protected party was not there. The deputy was advised to allow the male to remain at the residence and to submit a report to the courts. Before the service of the TPO, the protected party called multiple times asking if it had been served yet. Another deputy spoke with the party. If deputies must respond to this residence, be aware that there is a large, aggressive pit bull.

January 14, 2926

3:37 pm — Flushing Northeast Rd, Flushing. Deputies responded to a theft. The caller stated that someone had broken into their home and taken money.
