Belmont County Tax Bills Coming
Belmont County Treasurer, Katherine J. Kelich, in a press release this week announced that first-half 2024 Real Estate Tax and Manufactured Home Tax bills will be mailed the week of January 20th, 2025. Property owners who do not receive their first-half bills by February 3, 2025 should contact the Treasurer’s office at 740-699-2145.
The due date for payment is Friday, February 21, 2025. Postmark is accepted as a timely payment. To ensure that the postmark is placed on the envelope, it is recommended that the envelope is taken into the post office and postmarked. If there is no postmark and it is received after the due date, it is not accepted as a timely payment. A five-percent penalty will be added to any current year payments made within the first ten days after the due date. Thereafter, all unpaid bills will have a ten-percent penalty added to the current year unpaid balance.
Payments may be made in one of the following ways:
(1) By mail – Mail the payment of check, money order or certified funds utilizing the self- addressed return envelope. Do not send cash.
(2) By Dropbox – A secure drop-box is located on the left side of the front stairs of the Courthouse. Do not pay by cash using the Drop-box.
(3) By credit card, debit card, or e-check – visit the office website to make the payment or call (please check back for contact update) . There is a convenience fee assessed.
(4) In office – you must maintain social distancing while in the Courthouse. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. All Federal Holidays are observed.
The tax stub apparent on the top-half of all tax bills should accompany any of the payment methods selected.
Belmont Fire, EMS Association Selling Reflective Address Markers

The Belmont County Fire and Squad Officers Association is currently accepting orders for reflective address markers that are ideal for rural address locations throughout the county.
The green with yellow numeral blade markers are highly visible night or day, fade resistant, with the address on both sides of the pre-drilled hole signs.
The cost of each sign is $20 and may be ordered by sending a check to: Belmont County Fire and Squad Officers Association, 69604 Sunset Heights, Bridgeport, OH 43912. For more information, please contact Jim Delman at (740) 312-5058.

Belmont County Hoof & Paw AKA BCHP, Inc. Annual Report
Each year under ORC 1717.16, the organization that acts as the Belmont County Animal Control agency is required to send an annual report to the Sheriff’s office, according to the group’s recent release.
During 2024, the organization investigated 557 animals, with 275 animals being confiscated and 51 of the animals being deceased. Only one had to be euthanized due to health conditions and at the request of the owner.
Breaking the statistics down, Hoof and Paw investigated cases involving 255 dogs, 128 cats, and 174 Livestock and/or exotic animals. During the year they took in 275 animals and adopted out 243 of those animals.
The mission of the group is “to provide humane treatment of animals, prevention of cruelty, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of the animals of Belmont County, Ohio, to educate the public as to the proper care of animals, and to assist with or initiate the prosecution of those who mistreat animals”.
