Lois Irene (Merritt) Barr
Lois Irene Barr, 93, of Morristown, Ohio passed away on January 17, 2026. She was born on August 21, 1932 to the late James and Marjorie (Lee) Merritt.
Lois was the Superintendent of Nurses at Barnesville Hospital for over 20 years. She taught nursing classes at Belmont College for 15 years. She was also a seamstress. She loved to crochet, knit, and needlepoint. Whenever a new baby arrived, she always handmade a Christmas stocking for the family. She played the piano, and the organ at her church, the Morristown United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Barr; sons, John Randall “Randy” and Richard “Ricky” Barr; siblings, J.B. Merritt, William Merritt, Robert Merritt, John Merritt, and Helene Hart.
Left with happy memories are her son, Robert (Dawn) Barr of Morristown, grandchildren, Joby Barr (Taylor Benedetta), Makenzie (Gavin) Porter, Nathan (Ashlynn) McConnaughy; great-grandchildren, Kelsi, Kaylin, Noah, Aleena, Scottie; brother, Richard (Linda) Merritt of Uniontown; plus many nieces and nephews that she loved like children.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January, 22, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm at the Wilson Funeral Home, Bethesda Chapel, 322 N. Main St., Bethesda, Ohio 43719. The funeral service will be on Friday, January 23, 2025 at 11am with Pastor Karen Elliot officiating. Burial to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. All guests are invited to a luncheon at the Vestry in Morristown afterwards.
