Brrr!!
This was the scene at daybreak Friday morning at the West Main Street Church of Christ. Another morning with temperatures registering below zero at one of several electronic signs in Barnesville reporting the temperature.
Over at the East Main Street Church of Christ, it was 1 below while at the Frist Christian Church it was a little warmer at 5 above.
The time/temp sign at WesBanco is totally out of commission. The sign at Belmont Savings Bank that reported temperatures in the 30s earlier this week, has apparently decided to go on vacation for the present time!
All public schools are closed Friday, the fifth consecutive day buses have not traveled backroads collecting students for school.
The weather continues to impact businesses. For a second consecutive week, the Barnesville Livestock Auction will not take place while some other retail businesses are operating on reduced hours.
The 7th – 12th grade “Lock In” at the New Life Center of the First Christian Church planned for Friday night-Saturday morning will now take place March 6-7.
Not everything is at a standstill, however. The 3A/5A OVAC Bill Hinegardner Duals Wrestling Tournament took place Thursday night and tonight’s Military Appreciation Night at the Barnesville High School Gymnasium is set to get underway at 6 p.m.
Last night members of the Farm Bureau for Belmont, Guernsey, Monroe and Noble counties gathered at the Mid-East Career Center, Buffalo Campus to kickoff the group’s 2026 membership campaign.
