Union Local Book Vending Machine in Use

Mrs. Hoblick’s second grade class was the first class to meet the classroom goal and receive tokens to select books from the Union Local Elementary School’s book vending machine.

The machines were installed in the district’s elementary and middle schools thanks to donations from the Belmont County Community Improvement Corporation and ETQ Foundation.

Students earn tokens for achieving classroom goals, which they can use to select books, helping them build their personal libraries.

OHHC Staff Attends Conference

Ohio Hills Health Center school-based staff attended the Ohio Alliance Annual 2025 School-Based Health Care Conference recently. The conference theme was “Healthy Kids Learn Better”.

Ohio Hills manages a health care center at the Belmont Career Center in addition to community-based centers at Barnesville, Caldwell, Freeport, Quaker City and Woodsfield. Dental clinics are located in Barnesville and Freeport.

Barnesville Kindergarten Registration Set

The Barnesville Elementary School will register Kindergarten students for the 2025-26 school year on Friday, February 28. Registration is by appointment only. Please contact school counselor Tom Porter at (740) 425-3116 x-3131 to schedule.  Families with students in the preschool program need not register. 

A list of papers necessary to complete registration is found online.

UL Pre-School Registrations

Registration for the Union Local School District Preschool program will be open this month through February 28.  The “Little Jets Registry” is open for children from birth to four years.  For more information call (740) 782-1384 Monday-Friday during the hours of 10:00-2:00.  

Belmont Career Center Honor Roll

Juniors and Seniors at the Belmont Career Center achieving the Principal’s List for the second nine-week grading period are now posted on the center’s Facebook page.

Union Local “Winter Wonderland” Formal – Februray 15

The Union Local Student Council will host the Winter Wonderland Formal at the school comnmons, Saturday, Februry 15 from 7:00-10:00. The cost is $10 per student.  Tickets will be sold at lunch through February 13.  Music will be provided by D J Daner.

Barnesville Middle School “Cupid Shuttle” – February 21

Students at Barnesville Middle School are invited to enjoy an event of music, food and drinks at the school on Friday, February 21 from 7:00-9:00. Music will be provided by DJ Maddox Whaley.

Presale tickets of $5 each may be purchased from Mrs. Anderson. A concession stand and photos will be available at an additional cost.

Sponsors of the event ae Cutting Class for A Cure and the Barnesville Middle School Student Council.        

Shenandoah Schools Bake Sale Benefit – February 4.

Baked goods will be sold at the elementary and high school on Tuesday, February 4. The sale will also take place during the high school basketball game.

A blood drive will also take place on that day.  All proceeds go to the Parker Miley family to help with medical and travel expenses for the Shenandoah Elementary School student who is seriously ill.
