April 6 Voter Registration Deadline

Area residents who plan to vote in the upcoming May primary election who are not registered or who need to update their voter information must do so by Monday, April 6.

Boards of Elections throughout the state will be open that day until 9 p.m. to accommodate late registrations.

Early voting for the May 5 primary election will begin the following day, April 7.

Ohio Law has changed since the last election. For May 5th and moving forward the mail-in grace period for absentee ballots no longer exists.

All ballots must be received by the voter’s local board of elections by 7:30 p.m. Election Day to be counted. The only exceptions are for military and overseas voters.

Absentee ballots can be returned by mail or hand-delivered to a county board of elections.

Early in-person voting will take place through May 3.

On Election Day, polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Voters casting ballots in person are required to present a valid photo ID in order to vote.
