Lady Shamrocks Sweep Double Header

Barnesville collected two wins in a doubleheader at Barnesville Memorial Park Thursday.

Barnesville – 4, St. Clairsville – 0

Ella Betts threw a shutout to lead Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks past St. Clairsville 4-0 on Thursday, the first game of a doubleheader.

Barnesville got on the board in the fourth inning after an error scored one run.

Betts and Abygail Ady each collected one hit for the Shamrocks

Sophia Turner, Red Devils pitcher, surrendered two hits and four runs over six innings.

Barnesville – 11, St. Clairsville – 3

In the second game Thursday, Ella Betts collected three hits in four at bats. She singled in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

St. Clairsville scored first in the initial frame when an error scored one run.

Peyton Loudin singled up the middle tying the game at 1 each in the bottom of the first inning.

The Shamrocks scored two more in the third after Loudin tripled to center field and St. Clairsville committed an error, each scoring one run.

The Shamrocks scored six of their runs in the fifth inning as the team amassed 10 hits in the game. Roselyne Anderson and Loudin each generated multiple hits in the win.

Barnesville collected six walks.  Loudin and Betts were responsible for several of the team’s 7 stolen bases.

Loudin earned the win for Barnesville, giving up five hits and three runs while recording five strike outs.

Kenzie Carrel held the mound for St. Clairsville. She allowed 10 hits and 11 runs, striking out four and walking six.

The win is Barnesville’s eighth straight victory of the season.
