Shamrocks Win 14th Ahead of OVAC Championship Game

Barnesville – 4, Monroe Central – 1

The Shamrocks won their 5th consecutive game in a row Thursday evening at Barnesville Memorial Park in come from behind fashion 4-1 over the Monroe Central Seminoles ahead of Friday’s OVAC 3A Championship game against Wheeling Central at Cadiz.     

The Rox trailing 1-0 going into the bottom of the 6th scored 4 runs to pull out the victory. Parker Sobutka and Jaxten Swallie provided clutch hits in that inning.

Bobby Thompson’s pitching was solid, scattering 5 hits over 4 innings, striking out 5 batters and walking 2.  Bentley Stephen was excellent for 3 innings in relief allowing just one hit. Stephen struck out 2 and walked two to earn his 1st career varsity win.

The Shamrocks collected 4 hits. They were led at the plate by Brayden Watters, Parker Sobutka, Aidan Caldwell, and Jaxten Swallie  

JV Baseball

The Shamrock JV team split two close games this week in Tuesday and Thursday action.

 Barnesville – 14, Wheeling Central Catholic – 13

Indian Creek – 5, Barnesville – 4

The team record is 11-5 on the season going into the month of May.
