Loudin Hits Key to Shamrock Win
Barnesville – 10, Bridgeport – 6
Peyton Loudin drove in four runs on two hits to lead Barnesville past Bridgeport 10-6 on Thursday at Barnesville Memorial Park. Loudin hit an inside the park home run in the second inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the first inning, scoring one.
A Bridgeport single following a 6-pitch at-bat put Bridgeport on the board in the top of the first.
Barnesville responded in the bottom frame taking the lead, 4-1, when Abygail Ady tripled, scoring two runs, Loudin singled, scoring one run, and Becklee Oliver hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Three more Shamrock runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 7-1. An Ella Betts single scored one run while Loudin’s homer scored two.
The leading Shamrocks added one run in the third. Betts doubled down the left field line, making the score 8-2.
Barnesville collected 11 hits in the game. Betts went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the winners in hits.
Betts allowed three hits and five runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking five. Loudin stepped up in relief for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks.
Hanna Brewer opened the game for Bridgeport. The starting pitcher gave up 11 hits and 10 runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking one.
The Lady Shamrocks next play at home Wednesday against invading Edison Wildcats.
