Belmont Count Voter Turnout 27 Percent   

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – A little more than one in four registered voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s primary election with 11,434 out of 42,070 registered, eligible voters making choices for state and county races for the Democrat and Republican parties.

Of those casting ballots, 70% did so on election day (7,937) and 30% by absentee ballot (3,497).

Republican voters cast 8,119 of the ballots (71%) and Democrats 3,146 (27.5%).  Of the remaining voters, 47 cast ballots on the Libertarian ticket while 122 only voted on issues such as the Union Local school levy or one of several other ballot measures.         

Union Local School District voters cast ballots at 38.3%, 11 points higher than the county turnout of 27%.

Although Barnesville Area News did not preview the election for the neighboring counties of Guernsey, Monroe and Noble, election, results are posted on respective county BOE websites found below.
