Belmont SWCD Places Holiday Trees

With almost 60 live Christmas trees donated to the Belmont Soil and Water Conservation District, on this fifth year of the program, the beneficiaries this year are Barkcamp State Park Lake and small mammals and birds.
Half of these trees were sunk into Barkcamp Lake to create habitat for fish where trees were anchored to cinder blocks on the frozen lake. Once the ice melts, the trees will sink to the bottom.
The remaining trees will be used to create brush piles for small mammals and birds.
