Girls’ Track and Field: Ladyn Hines Advances to State Tournament
AUSTINTOWN — Several members of Barnesville High School’s boys and girls varsity track and field teams competed in the 2026 Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division IV Regional Tournament this past week.
Barnesville freshman Ladyn Hines is the single Shamrock to advance to the state tournament. She placed fifth in the Pole Vault competition at 8’-6”.
Hines was one of three other girls who were freshmen and placed in the top ten for this specific competition.
For the Shamrocks, a couple of other athletes were able to place in their respective competitions. Sophomore Lydia Welch took seventh in the Shot Put with a season-best of 35’-3.5” while Kali Jones placed sixth in Long Jump with a leap of 15’3.75”.

The 2026 OHSAA Division IV State Tournament will open on Friday, June 5, in Columbus at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The tournament will conclude Saturday, June 6.
An update on Hines’ performance will be provided once results of the tournament are finalized.
