Grinding Away
The long awaited SR 147 paving project from Barnesville to Belmont launched early Tuesday morning as crews from Shelly and Sands began grinding down the existing pavement along East Main Street. The machines moved east from the center of town removing all asphalt paving from curb to curb.
The first segment of work runs from Chestnut to Henderson Street at the top of the East Main Street hill.
The paving project covers eight miles of roadway from Barnesville, through Bethesda, ending at Bridge Street in Belmont. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. According to the ODOT project website, “the completion date is September 30, 2026”.
