Trucker Trapped in I-70 Accident

As first reported on the Fairview Fire and EMS Facebook page, Barnesville Fire & EMS, Bethesda EMS and Fairview Fire and EMS responded to a report of a one vehicle rollover with the vehicle on fire on Eastbound I-70 at the 200-mile marker midway between the Fairview and Route 800 Monday night.

A commercial west bound semi crossed the median on Interstate 70 and overturned down an embankment.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the 2025 Mack Anthem semi was driven by 69-year-old Robert Orsulak of North Versailles, Pennsylvania. The truck struck a guardrail on the south side of the interstate, traveling through it, overturning onto its side down an embankment.

Advised by dispatch there may be a fire, Fairview units arrived on scene and found a commercial vehicle rollover, no fire showing on arrival, and bystanders climbing on the truck. Units on scene confirmed the driver was trapped in the cab.

Barnesville and Fairview personnel extracted the patient using mechanical means.

Orsulak was taken by Barnesville EMS to Wheeling Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

OSHP reports the crash remains under investigation.

According to Fairview Fire and EMS, lane closures were experienced throughout the night while towing crews removed the vehicle.
