Kemp Insurance Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Kemp Insurance Agency, 280 West Main Street, celebrated its 50th anniversary on July 13 by hosting a barbeque for the public.
Kemp Insurance, now the Barnesville division of Tuscarawas Insurance Agency, was founded in 1976 by Richard Kemp.
In 2000, his daughter, Kim Stephen, took over the business and owned and operated it until 2025. When Stephen began to consider retirement, she started looking for a partner to ensure the business would continue. She found that partner in Zach Mottice, who owns Tuscarawas Insurance Agency. In February of 2025, the agency was bought by the Tuscarawas Insurance Agency.
To celebrate 50 years of operation, Kemp Insurance hosted a barbeque for the public, giving back to the community by serving hot dogs and hamburgers. Clay’s Drive In from Piedmont, Ohio, was also present, serving ice cream to attendees.
The team also gave away door prizes. Alicia Haney, the operations manager, had this to say about the event: “We just wanted to celebrate and give back. We just wanted to take part in the day with people and celebrate what Kim and her father had built here.”
